The Royal Thai Embassy in Abuja has shifted to an e-visa system starting January 1, 2025. Residents of Nigeria, Ghana, and other countries must submit visa applications online. The transition eliminates in-person submissions and requires applicants to provide necessary documents, with processing taking up to five days.
The Royal Thai Embassy in Abuja has announced a shift in visa processing procedures, effective from January 1, 2025. To modernize operations, the embassy will no longer accept physical visa applications. Instead, applicants from Nigeria, Ghana, Benin, Cameroon, Chad, Equatorial Guinea, and several other countries must now apply online through the embassy's official e-visa platform.
This change applies to passport holders from the aforementioned nations who reside in these countries. Once an application is approved, applicants will receive a confirmation email. They must print this email and present it to airline staff and Thai immigration officials at the port of departure and arrival.
Visa processing takes up to five working days, though delays may occur. Applicants are advised to submit their travel booking details, including return flight confirmations, and apply at least 4-6 weeks before their travel date. However, they should not apply more than three months in advance.
The embassy has stressed that the visa fee is non-refundable, regardless of the application outcome. Processing fees may change without notice, and the embassy reserves the right to ask for additional documentation or conduct interviews when necessary.
This move to an online application system replaces the traditional in-person submission process, which ended on December 20, 2024. The embassy cautioned applicants against submitting false information, as such actions would lead to immediate rejection and potential legal consequences.
