Nigerians slam The Nation Newspaper for investigating Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s children amid her battle with Senate President Akpabio. Many question the report’s relevance, accusing the media of diverting attention from her harassment claims. Natasha remains defiant, gaining massive public support.
Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has once again found herself at the center of controversy, but this time, Nigerians are rallying behind her. A recent report by The Nation Newspaper detailing her marital history and children has sparked outrage, with many questioning the relevance of such an investigation to her ongoing political battles.
The revelation that Natasha has four children—one from her first marriage, two from her second, and a son with her current husband, High Chief Emmanuel Uduaghan—was met with widespread indifference, with critics calling it a deliberate attempt to divert attention from her harassment claims against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
Akpoti-Uduaghan’s clash with Akpabio escalated in February 2024 when she rejected a new Senate seating arrangement, accusing him of targeting her after she allegedly refused his advances. Her six-month suspension further fueled the controversy, leading her to sue Akpabio for defamation and escalate her case to international bodies like the United Nations.
Rather than address these serious allegations, The Nation’s report focused on Natasha’s personal life, prompting Nigerians to drag the publication online. Many pointed out that her children were all born within marriages, questioning the point of the exposé. Comments like, “So she wasn’t supposed to have children in her marriages?” and “Of what use is this information to the harassment case?” flooded social media.
Despite the noise, one thing remains clear: Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan continues to command public support, undeterred by attempts to shift the narrative.
