TikToker Olumide Ogunsanwo, aka Seaking, was arraigned for treason and cyberstalking after urging Nigerian youths to challenge the police. Granted bail at N500,000, his case awaits DPP advice in January 2025. Lawyer Inibehe Effiong defends Seaking, sparking debates over free speech and accountability.

Popular TikToker Olumide Ogunsanwo, better known as Seaking, appeared in court on Monday, December 23, following charges brought by the police. Represented by human rights lawyer Inibehe Effiong, Seaking faced allegations of treason, cyberstalking, conduct likely to cause a breach of peace, and incitement for reportedly calling on Nigerian youths to "wage war" against the police.

The magistrate court granted Seaking bail under liberal terms. He was asked to provide N500,000 bail and two sureties. One of the sureties must be a family member, both residing in Lagos State and gainfully employed.

The case was adjourned to January 16, 2025, pending advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Effiong called for fair treatment and emphasized the importance of respecting Seaking’s rights. The incident has generated significant online discussion, with many debating the legality and broader implications of Seaking’s video, which allegedly led to the charges.
