Senate President Godswill Akpabio has declared that President Bola Tinubu’s second term is certain, urging members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to remain united ahead of the 2027 elections. Speaking at an Iftar/Lent dinner hosted by the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) in Abuja, Akpabio expressed confidence that the ruling party would expand its victories in the next general election.

He emphasized the need for party cohesion, stating, “Victory shall be ours in 2027. We will also pray for Mr. President that his second term is assured.” He pointed to the recent selection of a senator for the Edo governorship race as proof of the party’s continued strength.

PGF Chairman and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, echoed this sentiment, urging APC members to promote the Tinubu administration like a well-marketed product. He stressed that the party’s success was a collective responsibility.

Finance Minister Wale Edun highlighted key economic gains under Tinubu, including efforts to stabilize the exchange rate, reduce inflation, and lower food and energy prices. He credited these improvements to the administration’s bold policies and assured continued support for the most vulnerable Nigerians.

Top APC figures attended the event, including National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, governors, lawmakers, and members of the party’s National Working Committee.

Despite Akpabio’s optimism, his statement has sparked debate, with critics questioning his neutrality as Senate President and expressing concerns about the fairness of the 2027 elections.
