President Bola Tinubu has celebrated Ademola Lookman and Chiamaka Nnadozie for their outstanding achievements at the 2024 CAF Awards. Lookman was named the Men’s African Footballer of the Year, while Nnadozie secured the Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year title. The awards were presented at the Palais des Congrès in Marrakech, Morocco.
In a statement by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu lauded the athletes for bringing pride to Nigeria through their remarkable performances. He described their success as a reflection of the "Nigerian Spirit" and expressed his pride in their accomplishments, which serve as an inspiration for future athletes. Lookman’s award comes after an impressive season with both the Super Eagles and Atalanta. He was pivotal in Nigeria’s strong run in the Africa Cup of Nations, contributing vital goals, and his performance in the Europa League final earned Atalanta its first European title.
