President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the establishment of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Polytechnic in Gwarinpa, Abuja. The institution aims to enhance technological, vocational, and entrepreneurial education. The FCT Minister and the Federal Ministry of Education will finalize site locations, marking a significant milestone for Abuja’s educational and developmental growth.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the establishment of a Federal Polytechnic in Gwarinpa, Abuja, named after him. The institution, Bola Ahmed Tinubu Polytechnic, aims to advance technological, vocational, and entrepreneurial education in line with national policies.
In a letter dated January 16, 2025, addressed to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, Education Minister Dr. Tunji Alausa requested the proposal of temporary and permanent sites for the polytechnic within Gwarinpa. A technical team from the Federal Ministry of Education and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) will inspect the suggested locations before final site approval.
Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), praised President Tinubu for prioritizing education in the FCT. He also commended Minister Wike for facilitating the polytechnic's establishment, describing it as a milestone for FCT residents.
Maikalangu highlighted the historical appointment of Zaphaniah Bitrus Jisalo, an FCT native, as a federal minister, signifying progress for the region. The Polytechnic is expected to enhance educational opportunities and boost development in Gwarinpa, one of Abuja's largest estates.
