President Bola Tinubu reportedly criticized Rivers Governor Siminalayi Fubara during a peace meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, sources revealed.
The meeting, chaired by Tinubu and attended by VP Kashim Shettima, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, and others, focused on the demolition of the Rivers House of Assembly Complex.
Tinubu, expressing anger over the incident, condemned the act as a "desecration of democracy." He highlighted his past cooperation with Lagos State Assembly and urged restraint.
The meeting discussed the political crisis in Rivers, where lawmakers defected and a court order allowed Wike's loyalists to control the assembly. Tinubu veiledly referred to his political disagreement in Lagos and advised against unlawful actions, emphasizing the need for peace.
The peace deal includes reappointing resigned officials and reinstating defected lawmakers.
This marks the second mediation by the president in the ongoing political battle between Wike and Fubara.
