President Tinubu has issued new directives limiting official convoys and security details for ministers and agency heads to reduce government costs. The measures, including a three-vehicle convoy cap and reduced security personnel, follow his previous efforts to cut expenses on both foreign and local trips.

President Bola Tinubu has issued new directives aimed at cutting government expenses, limiting ministers, state ministers, and heads of federal agencies to a maximum of three vehicles in their official convoys. This is part of a broader cost-cutting initiative by the administration, which also includes limiting the number of security personnel attached to these officials. Each is now restricted to five security personnel, consisting of four police officers and one Department of State Services (DSS) officer.

The directive follows previous measures Tinubu introduced earlier in the year, reducing his foreign trip entourage to 20 officials and the Vice Presidents to five. Local trips were also scaled back, with Tinubu reducing his team to 25 and the Vice President’s to 15.

The President further instructed the National Security Adviser to collaborate with military and paramilitary bodies to ensure appropriate reductions in vehicle use and personnel deployment across all agencies. These measures are to be implemented immediately to ensure the administration's goal of cutting down the cost of governance.

The announcement was made in a statement signed by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, emphasizing the seriousness and urgency of the changes.
