President Bola Tinubu met with Google CEO Sundar Pichai in France to discuss a strategic partnership aimed at positioning Nigeria as Africa’s AI and digital innovation leader. Tinubu announced the meeting on X, emphasizing Nigeria’s commitment to AI development and collaboration with Google to drive technological advancements.

The discussions centered on five key areas: enhancing cloud infrastructure, training the workforce with AI skills, fostering AI research, accelerating cloud adoption, and positioning Nigeria as a global tech hub. Tinubu cited Awarri Technologies as an example of Nigeria’s growing AI sector, highlighting its role in developing critical software solutions.

The partnership aligns with Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which focuses on economic diversification through industrialization and digital transformation. He expressed confidence that the collaboration would empower businesses, create job opportunities, and elevate Nigeria’s role in the global digital economy.

The Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy will oversee the initiative, while the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) will spearhead its implementation.
