President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved an immediate increase in military salaries, including payment of three months' worth of arrears. Additionally, funds have been released for the payment of pensions and entitlements to retired military personnel. This announcement was made by Dr. Bello Muhammed Matawalle, the Minister of State for Defence, who confirmed that military personnel have begun receiving alerts for the salary increment.

Dr. Matawalle expressed appreciation for President Tinubu’s decisive action, which also includes addressing pension arrears owed to retired personnel. He praised the President’s dedication to improving the welfare of both serving and retired military members.

The Minister also acknowledged the support of Mr. Wale Edun, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, whose assistance played a crucial role in ensuring these payments. Dr. Matawalle reassured military personnel that President Tinubu is committed to boosting their morale and supporting them in addressing the country's security challenges.

Furthermore, Dr. Matawalle commended the Nigerian military for its significant role in combating insurgency, terrorism, and criminality, emphasizing that their contributions are essential to national security.
