Nigeria Tinubu Introduces Expatriate Employment Levy to Address Wage Gaps in Nigeria

President Bola Tinubu took a significant stride on Tuesday by launching the Expatriate Employment Levy, a groundbreaking initiative introduced by the Federal Ministry of Interior. The ceremony, held at the State House Council Chambers in Abuja, marked the commencement of a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, with the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) playing a crucial role in implementation.

The initiative, as shared by Minister of Interior Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo on his official X Twitter account, aims to bolster revenue generation, enhance nationalization and indigenization, and foster employment opportunities for Nigerians within foreign companies operating in the country.

The program also seeks to address wage disparities between expatriates and the local workforce, promoting a more equitable employment landscape. President Tinubu's unveiling underscores a commitment to economic growth, knowledge transfer, and a harmonized balance in the labor market.
