On January 4, 2025, President Bola Tinubu visited Enugu for his first official state trip and inaugurated several key projects implemented by Governor Peter Mbah’s administration. Tinubu was welcomed at the airport by Mbah, Abia Governor Alex Otti, and other top officials, including Dave Umahi, Minister of Works.
Among the notable projects inaugurated were 30 smart green schools, 60 newly completed Type 2 primary health centers, and infrastructure improvements such as the 19-kilometer Airport-New Haven-Bisalla and Okpara Square roads. The president also unveiled the state’s new International Conference Centre and a sophisticated command and control center, which features 150 patrol vehicles equipped with AI-powered surveillance cameras.
During the ceremony, Tinubu emphasized the importance of infrastructure in driving economic growth, job creation, and foreign investment. He praised Governor Mbah’s leadership for placing Enugu on the path to 21st-century development, saying, “Infrastructural development is a must to attract local and foreign investment.” The president also stressed the need for technology-driven policies and private sector involvement in governance to build a stronger Nigeria.
Tinubu concluded his remarks by highlighting the collaborative potential between him and Mbah in shaping the future of Nigeria through continued progress and innovation.
