Nigeria is mourning the death of Pascal Dozie, a prominent entrepreneur and founder of the defunct Diamond Bank, who passed away on Tuesday, just a day before his 86th birthday.

President Bola Tinubu led tributes, praising Dozie’s pioneering role in shaping Nigeria’s banking and telecommunications sectors. Tinubu described Dozie as a visionary leader whose contributions would remain an enduring part of the nation’s economic framework. Through Diamond Bank and as the inaugural chairman of MTN Nigeria, Dozie helped transform two vital industries, Tinubu noted.
