President Bola Tinubu, Peter Obi, and the Labour Party (LP) have expressed their condolences following the passing of former presidential spokesperson Doyin Okupe, who died at the age of 72 after battling an illness.

In a statement issued by his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu described Okupe as a significant figure in Nigeria’s political landscape, commending his contributions to national development. Tinubu extended his sympathies to the people of Ogun State and Okupe’s hometown, Iperu-Remo, acknowledging the deep void his death leaves behind.

Okupe, a former Director-General of Obi’s 2023 presidential campaign, was remembered by the Labour Party candidate as a man committed to a better Nigeria. Obi lamented his passing as a profound loss, urging supporters to pray for his family during this difficult time.

The Labour Party’s National Chairman, Julius Abure, described Okupe as an inspirational leader whose passion for national progress remained evident even after he resigned from the party.
