President Bola Tinubu concluded his official visit to China with a meeting at the China World Hotel in Beijing, where he addressed members of the Nigerians in Diaspora Organization (NIDO China). He described the trip as "very good and successful," emphasizing his administration's commitment to strengthening ties in infrastructure, trade, and energy during discussions with Chinese leaders.
Tinubu urged Nigerians living in China to serve as good ambassadors for the country, highlighting the importance of discipline and commitment to national service. He praised China’s disciplined society as a model for Nigerians to follow and underscored the need for unity in promoting Nigeria's image abroad.
The President also acknowledged the economic challenges facing Nigeria, including recent fuel price hikes, and called for bold reforms. He stressed that such hard decisions are necessary for progress, urging Nigerians to leverage their talents, including their ability to speak Mandarin, to enhance Nigeria's global standing.
Dr. Oche Barnabas, President of NIDO China, praised Tinubu for his commitment to fostering Nigeria-China relations. He requested the President's assistance in advocating for Nigeria to be recognized as a native English-speaking nation, which could open up more educational and job opportunities for Nigerians in China.
As the meeting concluded, Tinubu reiterated his focus on collaboration and innovation to improve Nigeria’s infrastructure and educational systems, affirming, “We are focused, and I have a very good team.”
