During his visit to the Lekki Central Mosque in Lagos on December 27, 2024, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was warmly welcomed and commended by the Chief Imam of the mosque, Ridhwan Jamiu. This was the President’s first public appearance since attending prayers at Alausa Central Mosque the previous Friday. In his sermon, Imam Jamiu emphasized the importance of being grateful during times of fortune and remaining patient during adversity. He reminded the congregation that unwavering faith and hope are essential for believers, even in difficult times.

The Imam specifically acknowledged President Tinubu’s leadership and commitment, expressing confidence in his ability to guide Nigeria towards peace, security, and prosperity. Imam Jamiu shared that the Muslim community continues to offer prayers for the President’s success and assured him of their unwavering support. He recalled how they encouraged people to vote for him during the campaigns, and thanked Allah for the President’s leadership.

The Imam also reminded the President of his responsibilities, urging him to remain accountable to the people and to continue upholding justice, referencing the Prophet Muhammad's teachings that the most beloved leader to Allah is one who is righteous and just. Imam Jamiu expressed his hope that the President would continue to reflect the qualities associated with his name, “Ahmed,” meaning someone who does what is praiseworthy.

The President arrived in Lagos on December 18, after presenting the 2025 budget to the National Assembly, and has spent the holiday season there. He had cancelled some public engagements in honor of victims of recent stampedes in Oyo, Anambra, and the Federal Capital Territory.
