President Bola Tinubu has returned to Nigeria after concluding his visit to South Africa, where he co-chaired the 11th session of the Nigeria-South Africa Bi-National Commission (BNC) with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa. The session, which took place on December 5, 2024, focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries across various sectors.
The BNC discussions centered around key issues, including trade, political consultations, defense and security, banking and finance, energy, manufacturing, and migration. These working groups aim to enhance economic ties and promote regional stability. During the session, several Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) were signed to further deepen the partnership between Nigeria and South Africa.
Tinubu arrived back in Nigeria at 9:10 pm, landing at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja. He was received by prominent figures, including Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, and the Commissioner of Police FCT, Peter Opara.
The Nigeria-South Africa Bi-National Commission was established in 1999 to foster diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties between the two nations.
