President Bola Tinubu has dismissed the Chief Executives of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) and the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE).
According to a late Monday statement by presidential spokesman Ajuri Ngelale, the removal of Babatunde Irukera from the FCCPC EVC/CEO and Alexander Ayoola Okoh from BPE is part of a broader restructuring initiative.
The statement outlined Tinubu's plans to reposition critical government agencies, emphasizing the protection of consumer rights and enhancing the contributions of key growth-enabling institutions to the nation's economy.
The abrupt decision mandates the dismissed CEOs to hand over to the next most senior officers in their respective agencies immediately. Babatunde Irukera, expressing gratitude for the opportunity on social media, stated that Nigerian citizens and consumers deserve a better deal.
The move has sparked reactions, leaving many to speculate on the potential implications of this strategic shake-up.
