During his official visit to China, President Bola Tinubu met with Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Great Hall in Beijing, where the two leaders participated in a ceremonial inspection of a guard of honour. This meeting marks a significant step in fostering closer ties between Nigeria and China.

President Tinubu's visit is strategically aligned with his participation in the 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), scheduled from September 4 to 6. This forum, a key event that takes place every three years, serves as a platform to enhance economic and political cooperation between China and African nations. The last forum was held virtually in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a statement from Ajuri Ngelale, the presidential spokesperson, it was highlighted that Tinubu's agenda includes not only discussions with President Xi but also meetings with leading Chinese business figures. These discussions aim to strengthen Nigeria’s economic partnerships with China, focusing on trade, infrastructure development, and technological innovation.

The visit was documented through various photos and videos showing Tinubu and Xi Jinping on a podium at the Great Hall, underscoring the diplomatic significance of the event. As the forum progresses, the outcomes of Tinubu’s meetings are expected to have lasting impacts on the economic and political relations between Nigeria and China, potentially bringing new opportunities for both nations.
