Cleric Sheikh Ahmad Abubakar Gumi has made a public statement accusing the Tinubu administration of having intentions to secure an eight-year term, pledging that they will not succeed in their efforts. In a video that has gone viral, Gumi did not explicitly mention the president's name but it was evident that he was referring to Tinubu.
Gumi also expressed his disapproval of the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC), labeling its supporters as hypocrites and worthless individuals. He alleged that while northerners are in charge of the Ministry of Defence, the command and control system is under the jurisdiction of southerners.
He further criticized Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), branding him as "satanic." Gumi suggested that the FCT Minister had established a collaboration with the Israeli Ambassador on security matters in Abuja, likening the city to Tel Aviv. He expressed concerns about potential profiling and discrimination against individuals with beards, highlighting the security issues in Abuja.
Gumi also questioned the legitimacy of Muslims' participation in government and the real power structure in the Ministry of Defence. He voiced suspicions about an agenda to deceive the people for four years and secure an eight-year term, vowing that such plans will not succeed.
The cleric emphasized the economic disparity in the country, with only individuals trusted by those in power benefiting financially, while others face exclusion and potential suppression.
