A three-story building collapsed in the Odoriwu Estate near Elf Bus Stop in Lagos on Wednesday, leaving two people dead and six others seriously injured. The incident, which occurred in the afternoon, prompted an urgent response from emergency services.

Officials from the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) quickly mobilized rescue teams from their Lekki and Cappa bases after receiving distress calls. Rescue workers combed through the debris and managed to pull out six injured victims, who were given first aid before being transported to Marian General Hospital for further treatment. Unfortunately, two male victims were found lifeless beneath the rubble.

LASEMA’s permanent secretary, Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, stated that heavy-duty equipment was deployed to assist in clearing the wreckage and searching for more victims. Although the exact cause of the collapse remains unknown, officials have launched an investigation to determine whether poor construction, structural defects, or other factors contributed to the disaster.

Several emergency response agencies, including the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA), the Nigeria Police Force, the Rapid Response Squad, the Lagos Fire and Rescue Service, and the Lagos State Ambulance Service, were actively involved in the operation.
