In a heart-wrenching incident, Alhaji Muhammadu Bello Sifawa, the Secretary to the Sokoto State Government, lost his daughter, Rabiatu, and three grandchildren in a devastating fire that tore through their home in Sifawa town, Bodinga Local Government Area, on January 6, 2025. The fire occurred in the early hours of the morning while the family was asleep.
Rabiatu, the daughter of the Sokoto SSG, was married to Alhaji Muhammadu Yusuf Bello, the Permanent Secretary of the Sokoto State Ministry of Sports and Youth Development. Tragically, the fire also claimed the life of the housemaid, while Alhaji Bello miraculously survived the inferno.
Firefighters worked relentlessly to contain the blaze, and local authorities are currently investigating its cause. Meanwhile, the remains of the victims were laid to rest today at the Sheikh Shehu Usmanu Danfodiyo Mosque in Sifawa.
