Junior Pope, a popular actor, topped the list after his tragic death in a boat accident on April 10, 2024. The actor was en route to Asaba to film a movie when the boat capsized on the River Niger in Anambra State. Despite earlier reports suggesting he was alive, Pope was confirmed dead after videos of villagers trying to revive him circulated online.

Following Pope, veteran comedian Mr. Ibu, born John Okafor, was the second most searched death after his sudden passing on March 2, 2024. His comedic genius had made him a household name, and his death at 62 prompted an outpouring of tributes from fans and the entertainment industry alike.

Herbert Wigwe, a prominent banker and philanthropist, ranked third after his unexpected death on February 9, 2024. Wigwe’s passing left a significant impact on Nigeria’s financial sector, sparking curiosity about the circumstances surrounding his death.

Other notable figures included Yoruba actor Sisi Quadri, who died on March 1 at 44, and businessman-politician Ifeanyi Ubah, who passed away from cardiac arrest on July 27. Musician Onyeka Onwenu, actor Amaechi Muonagor, and Islamic singer Rukayat Gawat also made the list.
