Dada Yar’adua, the mother of former President Umaru Yar’adua and ex-Chief of Staff Shehu Yar’adua, has passed away at the age of 102. She died on the evening of September 2 at the Federal Teaching Hospital in Katsina State. Dada was celebrated for being a matriarch who raised influential political figures in Nigeria, including her sons Umaru, who served as President and two-time governor of Katsina, and Abdulaziz, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Army.

Following the news of her passing, condolences poured in from various quarters, including Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda, who visited the Yar’adua family to express his sympathies. In a heartfelt message on social media, he acknowledged the profound loss felt by the community. Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar also shared his grief, describing Dada as a mother to many, highlighting her welcoming nature and compassion. He extended his condolences to the Yar’adua family and prayed for her eternal rest.
