The Nigerian Army has reported significant progress in various military operations across the country, including the neutralization of 50 terrorists and the arrest of 114 suspected insurgents. Major General Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, announced these developments during a briefing at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja.
In addition to these achievements, troops apprehended 19 suspected oil thieves and successfully rescued 49 kidnap victims. The military efforts in the South-South region prevented oil theft estimated at over N968 million. The troops also seized 65 assorted weapons and 400 rounds of ammunition.
Operation Delta Safe, a special operation in the Niger Delta region, uncovered and deactivated 53 illegal refining sites and recovered stolen products. This demonstrates a commitment to combating crude oil theft in the area.
Further achievements included the discovery and destruction of 54 dugout pits, 66 boats, 138 storage tanks, 253 cooking ovens, two pumping machines, eight speedboats, 17 hoses, 18 drums, and two cylinders. The recovered items included 983,350 liters of stolen crude oil, 144,980 liters of illegally refined AGO, and 71,650 liters of DPK.
In the South-East region, troops of Operation UDO KA conducted successful operations in Ebonyi and Imo States. They neutralized five terrorists, arrested 12 suspected criminals, and rescued seven kidnapped hostages.
These operations reflect ongoing efforts by the Nigerian military to combat terrorism, oil theft, and other security challenges across the country
