Former U.S. President Donald Trump has intensified his criticism of Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky, calling him a "dictator" and accusing him of manipulating Joe Biden.
Trump’s remarks came in response to Zelensky’s claim that the former president is caught in Russian disinformation regarding the 2022 invasion of Ukraine. Trump, however, blamed Ukraine for the war, insisting that Zelensky misled the U.S. into spending billions on an unwinnable conflict.
“Think about it—a comedian convinced America to send $350 billion for a war that never had to happen,” Trump said. He also alleged that half of the aid was unaccounted for and accused Zelensky of refusing to hold elections, despite declining support in Ukraine.
Trump warned that unless Zelensky acted quickly, Ukraine could cease to exist. He further claimed that the U.S. is successfully negotiating an end to the war with Russia.
Zelensky has yet to respond to Trump’s latest attack.
