Donald Trump announced the revocation of Joe Biden’s security clearance, citing concerns over his memory and handling of classified documents. The move follows Biden’s 2021 decision to block Trump’s intelligence access. With this decision, the tradition of briefing former presidents becomes increasingly politicized, sparking national security concerns.

Former U.S. President Donald Trump announced the revocation of Joe Biden’s security clearance, cutting off his access to classified intelligence. Trump shared the decision on his social media platform after arriving at Mar-a-Lago on Friday, February 7.

“There is no reason for Joe Biden to receive classified briefings any longer. Effective immediately, his security clearances are revoked,” Trump wrote. He argued that Biden set the precedent in 2021 when he blocked Trump’s own intelligence access after leaving office.

Trump also referenced the special counsel report on Biden’s handling of classified documents, claiming it highlighted Biden’s “poor memory” and inability to manage sensitive information. He concluded his post with, “JOE, YOU’RE FIRED. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

This move follows Trump’s history of stripping clearances from former officials, including intelligence personnel who criticized him and government figures like Mike Pompeo and Anthony Fauci.

Biden has yet to respond to the decision. However, in 2021, he defended blocking Trump’s access to intelligence, citing concerns over his “erratic” behavior and potential security risks.

Trump himself faced scrutiny over classified documents when the FBI searched his Mar-a-Lago residence in 2022, leading to charges of mishandling sensitive records. However, a judge later dismissed the case, ruling the prosecutor’s appointment unlawful.

With Trump’s move, the tradition of former presidents receiving intelligence briefings appears increasingly politicized, raising concerns about national security and precedent in future administrations.
