The Labour Party (LP) has announced the suspension of its National Treasurer, Oluchi Opara, for six months. The party's spokesman, Obiora Ifoh, revealed this decision during a conference held at the LP national headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday.
The suspension comes with immediate effect and is rooted in allegations made by Opara against the party's leadership, including accusations of financial misconduct. Ifoh, however, countered these claims, asserting that the party only received N1.2 billion from donations and form sales for the 2023 polls. He accused Opara of being sponsored by individuals seeking to undermine the party.
The intricate web of accusations and counterclaims has intensified the internal turmoil within the Labour Party, raising questions about its stability and the impact on the upcoming political landscape.
