What could have been a devastating day for Lagos turned out to be a near miss, thanks to a swift emergency response. In Ifako-Ijaiye, residents fled in fear as flames engulfed a petrol station. Just over an hour later, smoke rose again, this time from Victoria Island. Delays caused by traffic couldn’t stop the fire service from taking control. Still, the double incident raises hard questions about infrastructure risks, city planning, and emergency access in crowded Lagos zones.
