Minister of Works, David Umahi, has vowed to educate former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on the financial intricacies of the Lagos-Calabar coastal road project after Atiku criticized its cost and procurement process.
Atiku alleged that the project was awarded without competitive bidding and questioned the allocation of ₦1.06 trillion for the initial phase. Umahi dismissed Atiku's claims, describing them as uninformed and lacking understanding of figures.
He announced plans to hold a press conference in Lagos to provide accurate information about the project's procurement and cost. Umahi defended President Bola Tinubu's administration, emphasizing its prudence and commitment to cost-effectiveness.
He pledged to make the project's cost transparent to the public. Atiku's critique of the project and Umahi's response underscore ongoing debates about infrastructure development and government spending in Nigeria.
