PDP's National Working Committee deputies affirm support for Chairman Umar Damagum, pledging unity to resolve internal crises. They denounce divisive actions, call for focus on party restoration, and await court rulings on leadership disputes. Officials emphasize collective accountability and condemn APC's alleged oppressive tactics against the PDP.

The elected deputies of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Working Committee (NWC) have expressed collective accountability for the ongoing crises within the party. Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja, Deputy National Youth Leader Timothy Osadolor confirmed their support for Umar Damagum, affirming his position as PDP Chairman until December 2025.

Osadolor emphasized that no single member is solely responsible for the party's challenges. Instead, he called for unity, urging party members to cease blame games, court distractions, and divisive media appearances. He highlighted a history of personal ambitions, broken agreements, and exploitation of constitutional ambiguities as key factors contributing to the crisis.

“From 2013, we’ve allowed self-interest to undermine the PDP. It's time to rebuild together,” Osadolor stated. He also criticized some members for prioritizing personal agendas over party unity, contributing to internal discord.

On the issue of two individuals claiming the position of National Secretary, Osadolor said the party would await a court ruling. He urged members to uphold the party’s interests above individual grievances and stop actions that weaken internal mechanisms for conflict resolution.

The deputies also condemned what they described as the ruling APC’s oppressive tactics against the PDP and Nigerians. Osadolor called for focus, unity, and commitment to repositioning the PDP for success.

The event was attended by other PDP deputies, including Ibrahim Abdullahi, Ndubisi Eneh, and Pascal Adigwe, who echoed the call for collective efforts to restore the party’s strength and relevance.
