A tragic accident in Agbor, Delta State, has claimed the life of Awele Eluemunor, a final-year student at the University of Delta (UNIDEL). The incident occurred when a 100-level student, who was learning how to drive under the guidance of her boyfriend, lost control of the vehicle and veered off the road.
Eyewitnesses reported that the car struck several pedestrians, fatally injuring Awele, who was set to graduate in November. Two other victims sustained critical injuries and were rushed to the hospital for treatment.
The boyfriend alleged to be an internet fraudster and the owner of the car, reportedly fled the scene immediately after the accident, leaving the young driver behind.
Delta State Police confirmed the incident, stating that one person died while another was injured. The authorities have not disclosed whether the driver has been taken into custody.
The tragic event has sparked outrage among students and residents, with many calling for stricter enforcement of driving regulations to prevent similar occurrences.
