The Digest:

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) chapter of ASUU has suspended its strike over incomplete payment of January and February 2026 lecturers' salaries following meetings with university authorities. Chairman Idou Keinde announced the suspension after a congress on Wednesday afternoon, stating the management promised to address issues within 48 hours. The strike was called Tuesday over "amputated" salaries, including unpaid earned academic allowance and consolidated academic tools allowance for January, and unpaid professorial allowance for February. Keinde said the management requested documentary evidence from the salary structure in the 2025 FG-ASUU agreement. The union decided to suspend to avoid disrupting ongoing examinations. "The 48 hours have already started counting," Keinde said, adding that any contrary claims are "a lie and a false representation."
