The NYSC has invalidated certificates for 101 individuals fraudulently mobilized by the University of Calabar. This action, affecting the 2021, 2022, and 2023 service years, underscores NYSC's commitment to maintaining program integrity and combating certificate fraud.
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has invalidated the certificates of 101 individuals, who were fraudulently mobilized by the University of Calabar (UNICAL) for the 2021, 2022, and 2023 service years. This decisive action marks a significant crackdown on certificate fraud and underscores the NYSC's commitment to upholding the integrity of the national service program.
Eddy Megwa, the Director of Information and Public Relations at NYSC, emphasized that this move aims to eliminate unqualified participants from the program. The individuals affected were found to have been fraudulently included in the national service scheme, prompting the immediate cancellation of their certificates.
This development is part of the NYSC's broader strategy to ensure that only properly qualified individuals receive certificates of national service. The organization has warned that it will persist in taking stringent measures against any individuals or institutions implicated in fraudulent mobilization activities.
NYSC has advised public and private sector employers, government ministries, departments, agencies, and other relevant organizations to verify the authenticity of certificates presented to them. The public is encouraged to check the validity of certificates at the NYSC National Directorate Headquarters in Abuja to avoid accepting or employing fraudulent corps members.
Megwa reaffirmed NYSC's dedication to excluding unqualified individuals from national service, highlighting that the certificates of those involved in fraudulent activities have been invalidated. This action reflects the NYSC’s ongoing efforts to maintain the credibility and effectiveness of the national service program.
