Six University of Ibadan Master’s degree graduands achieved a perfect 7.0 CGPA at the 76th Convocation Ceremony. Among 2,450 graduates, they received recognition and scholarships for PhD studies. Vice Chancellor Professor Kayode Adebowale highlighted the university’s commitment to excellence in postgraduate education and national development.

The University of Ibadan (UI) celebrated its 76th Convocation Ceremony, awarding degrees to over 2,450 graduands. Notably, six outstanding students achieved a perfect Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 7.0 at the Master’s degree level, making them among the top achievers of the ceremony.

Among these exceptional students was Abiodun Oyeleye, a graduate in Wood Production from the Faculty of Technology, who expressed her gratitude for the support of her family, tutors, and faith in God. “I didn’t do it alone; God helped me, and I had the support of my wonderful lecturers,” she said. Oyeleye encouraged future students to believe in their potential, emphasizing the importance of determination and support.

UI’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Kayode Adebowale, praised the institution’s commitment to excellence in postgraduate education, noting that UI consistently produces the highest number of postgraduate candidates in Africa. He also reiterated the university’s dedication to developing the knowledge and skills needed to drive national development through research and education.

The six graduates who achieved the perfect CGPA were awarded scholarships to pursue doctoral degrees, further recognition of their academic achievements. The VC urged all graduates to apply their knowledge and skills creatively and courageously to the challenges ahead, contributing to the growth of Nigeria’s economy and society.
