A 300-level Unizik student attacked a lecturer after he interrupted her dance video recording. The altercation, caught on video, escalated when the student allegedly bit the lecturer. The incident has sparked debate on student behavior and campus discipline. The university is yet to issue an official response.
A dramatic incident at Nnamdi Azikiwe University (Unizik) has gone viral after a 300-level student physically attacked a lecturer who interrupted her while recording a dance video. The student, from the History and International Studies department, was filming in a faculty corridor when Dr. Chukwudi Michael Okoye from the Faculty of Arts attempted to pass by, politely saying, “Excuse me.”
The student, seemingly offended, confronted the lecturer, accusing him of hitting her. Witnesses captured the heated exchange on video, showing the student engaging in a physical altercation with the lecturer, who kept his hands raised to avoid retaliation. Reports suggest that after hearing the student insult him, Dr. Okoye returned to identify her and allegedly reached for her phone, prompting the student to bite him on both arms. Photos of the bite marks have since circulated online.
The student’s identity and her alleged connection to a lecturer in the university’s Engineering department have further fueled discussions. Social media users and fellow students have expressed outrage, with many calling for disciplinary action against the student. While the university is yet to release an official statement, the incident has sparked debate on campus discipline, student behavior, and the impact of social media trends on academic settings.
