The management of Landmark Beach Resort has come forward with a significant revelation regarding the original route designated for the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway.
According to Ms. Elsie Ogianyo, the Brand and Corporate Communications head at Landmark Africa, the 1.5km stretch through the Water Corporation Road median remains untouched and available for highway construction.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the management clarified concerns about the resort's alleged encroachment on the redesigned right of way, emphasizing that the original alignment lacks permanent structures, thus preventing disruptions to beach operations. This announcement follows remarks by Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, who underscored the need to preserve existing infrastructure along the original route.
However, Landmark Beach Resort expressed disappointment in not being consulted about the highway's alignment or included in discussions regarding its environmental impact assessment.
Moreover, the accelerated sand filling along the resort's shoreline has sparked panic among stakeholders, raising concerns about potential disruptions to investments and infrastructure valued at over N40 billion if the highway alignment is not rerouted to its original path
