A 21-year-old man was reportedly shot by unidentified police officers in Kubwa, Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, after allegedly refusing to pay a N200,000 bribe. The incident was shared by social media influencer Martins Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, who posted a video on his Facebook page showing the young man hospitalized with visible injuries.

In his video, VeryDarkMan expressed outrage, questioning the state of public safety in Nigeria, where citizens feel threatened not only by criminals but also by those responsible for their protection. "Are we going to be running from thieves and still running from the police?” he asked. He criticized the actions of the officers involved, pointing to systemic issues within the police force.

He also urged the Force Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) and the FCT PPRO to conduct a thorough investigation to hold the responsible officers accountable. The video has sparked online reactions, with many calling for reforms and accountability in the Nigerian police force.
