Activist Martins Vincent Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, has been granted bail after spending three weeks in detention. The news was confirmed by popular Nigerian blogger Tunde Ednut on June 10, 2024. In a post, Ednut shared that VeryDarkMan appeared in court this morning, and his bail was approved. Arrangements are underway to finalize his release, and he is expected to return home shortly.

Previously, the Federal High Court in Abuja had remanded VeryDarkMan on May 22, 2024, on charges of cybercrime. He faced five counts related to cyberstalking. The police alleged that he posted offensive and obscene content on his Instagram account, 'verydarkblackman.'

One charge claimed that VeryDarkMan falsely accused actress Iyabo Ojo of having an indecent sexual relationship with her daughter. Another allegation involved him accusing actress Tonto Dike of misappropriating funds from the #JusticeforMohbadMovement and being behind the controversial gossip blog, Gistlover.

Additionally, he was accused of falsely claiming that high-ranking police officers and senators were involved in sexual relationships with Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, who has since been convicted.

The news of VeryDarkMan's bail has been met with mixed reactions on social media, with supporters expressing relief and critics questioning the leniency of the court. The case highlights ongoing issues related to cybercrime laws and the responsibilities of public figures in Nigeria.
