Columbus Irisoanga, the renowned Nigerian actor known for his iconic role as the chief priest Igbudu in the 2001 Nollywood blockbuster Issakaba, has passed away. His colleague, Hilda Dokubo, confirmed his death on Instagram, expressing her deep sorrow. Dokubo reflected on the continuous loss of loved ones, describing Irisoanga as an “angel” and lamenting his death as a significant loss to Nollywood, particularly to actors from Rivers State.
Irisoanga, originally from Okrika, Rivers State, was not only a distinguished actor but also an academic. He served as a senior lecturer at the University of Port Harcourt, teaching acting to students in the Department of Theatre Arts. He earned his bachelor’s degree, master’s, and PhD from the same institution. Throughout his career, Irisoanga received numerous accolades for his contribution to the arts.
