Nigerian striker Victor Boniface has expressed his disappointment over being excluded from the 2024 CAF Player of the Year shortlist. The Bayer Leverkusen forward, who had an impressive season, scoring 21 goals and providing 10 assists in 34 matches, was notably absent from the prestigious list released by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Boniface played a crucial role in helping Bayer Leverkusen clinch both the Bundesliga and the DFB-Pokal titles last season. He also contributed to the team’s success in reaching the Europa League finals, where they finished as runners-up. His exceptional performances earned him the Bundesliga Rookie of the Season award and a place in the Team of the Season.

Taking to social media platform X, Boniface shared his thoughts on the snub, saying, “Rookie of the Season. Team of the Season. No worries. I no play AFCON. Na why I dey wait for Memes d’Or.” His comment references his injury, which prevented him from participating in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
