Victor Osimhen has officially surpassed Segun Odegbami to become the second-highest goal scorer in Super Eagles history after scoring twice in Nigeria's 2026 World Cup qualifying match against Rwanda. Osimhen’s first goal came early in the match when he converted a well-placed cross from Ademola Lookman, bringing his goal tally to 24, surpassing Odegbami’s previous record of 23 goals.

The Napoli forward doubled his tally just before halftime, finishing off a brilliant run through the Rwandan defense and calmly placing the ball past the goalkeeper to reach 25 goals for Nigeria. This remarkable feat places Osimhen just behind Rashidi Yekini, who holds the all-time record with 37 goals.

With this brace, Osimhen continues to build his legacy in Nigerian football and further cements his position among the nation's top scorers. He is now within striking distance of Yekini’s record, and his recent performances have made him a key figure in the Super Eagles' campaign.
