Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of harassment and victimization, alleging he made inappropriate advances in December 2023. The accusation follows her removal from the Senate chamber and a ₦100 billion defamation lawsuit against Akpabio. She demands a live broadcast of her Senate probe for transparency.

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of making inappropriate advances toward her during a visit to his Akwa Ibom residence in December 2023. In an interview with Arise TV, she claimed Akpabio made suggestive remarks about spending time together, leaving her uncomfortable. The allegations come amid ongoing tensions between the two lawmakers, following Akpoti-Uduaghan’s recent disciplinary probe by the Senate.

The controversy escalated last week when Akpoti-Uduaghan was forcefully removed from the Senate chamber after refusing to relocate to a reassigned seat. She has since filed a ₦100 billion defamation suit against Akpabio, alleging a pattern of victimization. The senator insists on a live broadcast of her Senate probe, stating that the proceedings will determine the standard of leadership in Nigeria. Her allegations have sparked heated debate, with supporters calling for an independent investigation while others dismiss the claims as politically motivated.
