Nyesom Wike, Minister of Nigeria's Federal Capital Territory, dismissed rumors about his collapse, calling them politically motivated. During a project inspection in Abuja, he reassured the public of his health and focused on delivering key infrastructure, urging residents to fulfill tax obligations to support ongoing developments.

Nyesom Wike, Nigeria’s Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has strongly rejected claims about his alleged collapse and subsequent medical evacuation to France. The rumors, which have spread rapidly in political circles, were dismissed by Wike as baseless, asserting that they were politically motivated.

Speaking during a site inspection of ongoing infrastructure projects in Abuja, Wike humorously addressed the speculation. “I am a human being, not a ghost. If I collapse, it’s a human, not a ghost, and I didn’t collapse,” Wike said, emphasizing that there was never any truth to the reports. He accused political adversaries of fabricating the story to divert public attention from more pressing issues.

Wike reassured the public of his health and continued commitment to his duties. He highlighted his participation in key public events, including leading a delegation to the Presidential Villa and attending the President’s Iftar event, underscoring his ongoing engagement with the nation's business. He also affirmed that his focus remains on advancing the Federal Capital Territory's infrastructure projects, many of which are set to be completed in time for President Bola Tinubu's second-anniversary celebrations.

The Minister expressed satisfaction with the progress of these projects and the timely execution by contractors. Additionally, he called on residents and businesses to meet their tax obligations, reiterating that these developments were funded by taxpayer money.

Wike, who is known for his no-nonsense approach to governance, dismissed the distractions caused by the rumors, stating that his priority remains delivering world-class infrastructure and promoting development in Abuja. With major events, such as the World Championships, on the horizon, he assured that Abuja’s transformation into a model capital city would not be delayed.
