Senate President Godswill Akpabio has praised President Bola Tinubu's economic reforms, highlighting that Abuja and other parts of Nigeria now resemble London. Akpabio made this statement during the 2025 budget presentation to a joint session of the Senate and House of Representatives.

He lauded Tinubu's administration for its substantial achievements in just 18 months, noting key progress in various sectors. Akpabio cited the doubling of government revenues to over NGN 18.32 trillion, a reduction in debt servicing expenditures from 97% to 68%, and meeting $7.5 billion in foreign exchange obligations. He also pointed to the increase in oil production to 1.8 million barrels per day and the launch of the Compressed Natural Gas initiative.

Akpabio emphasized the administration’s infrastructure advancements, particularly the development of crucial roads, including the Coastal Road in Abuja. "Imagine Abuja and other parts of our country looking almost like London," he said, underscoring the positive impact of these developments on the nation’s economy.

Additionally, Akpabio commended Tinubu's bold decisions, including the removal of fuel subsidies and efforts to enhance security. He noted that the administration’s measures have significantly reduced terrorism and kidnapping incidents, with over 11,000 terrorists neutralized. Akpabio concluded by praising Tinubu's international outreach, which has fostered new partnerships for Nigeria’s future growth.
