Presidential aide Daniel Bwala clashed with Arise TV’s Rufai Oseni after being questioned about his switch from critic to supporter of Tinubu’s government. Bwala defended his stance, saying opposition politics required him to challenge the government. The heated exchange sparked debate over political loyalty and changing allegiances.
Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser on Public Communications to President Bola Tinubu, had a heated exchange with Arise TV anchor Rufai Oseni during an interview on February 11. The clash began when Oseni questioned Bwala’s decision to serve in the same government he once criticized.
As Bwala responded, Oseni interjected, prompting the presidential aide to retort, “I’m not writing JAMB here; you cannot control me or talk to me like a secondary student.” Bwala insisted that his role as an opposition figure previously required him to challenge the government’s legitimacy but stated that his views changed after meeting with President Tinubu on January 10.
Oseni reminded Bwala that he had previously called Tinubu’s administration a “joke and a night of a thousand laughs.” Bwala defended his position, explaining that opposition politics often involves highlighting the government’s weaknesses while promoting alternative leadership.
Before his appointment, Bwala was a spokesperson for Atiku Abubakar’s 2023 presidential campaign under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He had accused Tinubu of election rigging and questioned his moral standing. Now, as part of Tinubu’s administration, Bwala claims he sees the government differently and fully supports the president’s leadership.
The tense exchange sparked reactions from viewers, with many questioning Bwala’s political shift and others defending his right to change his stance.
