The Super Eagles celebrated their 2-0 win over Rwanda with singing and dancing, led by captain William Troost-Ekong. Victor Osimhen's brace revived Nigeria's World Cup hopes and secured their first-ever victory in Rwanda. The team will now focus on their next qualifier against Zimbabwe in Uyo.

The Super Eagles reignited their 2026 FIFA World Cup hopes with a crucial 2-0 victory over Rwanda in Kigali, marking their first-ever win on Rwandan soil. The victory not only boosted Nigeria’s standing in the qualifiers but also gave the team a much-needed confidence boost after a slow start in the campaign.

Victor Osimhen was the hero of the night, scoring both goals for Nigeria. His first came in the 11th minute, when he met a precise cross from Ademola Lookman, guiding it past the Rwandan goalkeeper. With five minutes to go before halftime, Osimhen doubled Nigeria's lead, dispossessing a Rwandan defender before calmly chipping the ball over the goalkeeper. This brace propelled Osimhen to 25 goals for his national team, surpassing the legendary Segun Odegbami on Nigeria's all-time scorers list.

Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle deployed an attack-focused lineup, and Nigeria dominated possession throughout the game. Despite Rwanda's efforts in the second half, Nigeria’s defense, led by captain William Troost-Ekong, stood firm, preserving the clean sheet and sealing the victory. The win lifted Nigeria to six points from five matches in Group C, keeping their World Cup dreams alive.

In the locker room after the match, the celebrations were nothing short of jubilant. The players, led by Troost-Ekong, were seen dancing and singing, soaking in the moment of joy. Ola Aina, Samuel Chukwueze, and Alex Iwobi were also part of the lively celebrations, marking a key moment in Nigeria’s qualification campaign. The Super Eagles will now look to build on this momentum as they prepare for their upcoming match against Zimbabwe in Uyo.
