Residents in the Federal Capital Territory raided a National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) warehouse in Karimo, Abuja, on Sunday, making away with foodstuffs and other items.
The incident comes amid widespread hardship and economic challenges in Nigeria following the removal of fuel subsidy and the devaluation of the naira.
Personnel from the Nigeria Police Force were deployed to the area to disperse the looters and secure the warehouse.
The FCT Police Command spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, confirmed the situation, assuring that it is now under control.
Nigerians have been expressing concerns about the rising prices of goods and inflation resulting from economic policies under President Bola Tinubu's administration.
