During a National Assembly hearing, Kirikiri prison officials revealed Bobrisky was kept out of the general prison population due to his transgender identity, which could have endangered his life. The revelation sparked mixed reactions online, with Nigerians debating issues of safety, justice, and preferential treatment in the prison system.

During a National Assembly hearing involving Bobrisky, EFCC, and Kirikiri prison officials, the Deputy Controller of Kirikiri Prison revealed that Bobrisky was not placed in the general prison population due to his transgender identity and female appearance. The official explained that doing so could have endangered Bobrisky’s life, as the general prison population includes hardened criminals, including those convicted of rape and sodomy.

The hearing followed a statement by influencer VeryDarkMan, who had previously refused to speak during a session because Bobrisky wasn't present. Nigerians quickly took to social media to express their opinions on the revelation.

Some questioned why this information was only being made public after Bobrisky had been sentenced to six months in prison. Others expressed concern that being transgender in Nigeria could itself be considered a crime. Many Nigerians were divided in their reactions, with some supporting Bobrisky’s protection and others expressing frustration at the preferential treatment they believe he received.
