Ekaette Akpabio has dismissed Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s claims of sexual harassment against her husband, Senate President Godswill Akpabio. She described the allegations as false, emphasizing her husband’s integrity. The dispute has sparked political debate, with Akpabio’s wife vowing legal action over the accusations.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio’s wife, Ekaette Akpabio, has strongly refuted allegations of sexual harassment leveled against her husband by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (PDP, Kogi Central). Speaking to journalists on Friday, she described the claims as baseless and accused Akpoti-Uduaghan of fabricating the story.

Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan had earlier alleged that her difficulties in the Senate began after she rejected Akpabio’s advances. In response, Mrs. Akpabio insisted that her husband is a disciplined and jovial man who has always respected women.

She further dismissed the allegations by pointing out that she was present at their family residence on the date in question, December 8, 2023. According to her, both families have maintained a cordial relationship for years, even before Akpoti-Uduaghan’s marriage.

Mrs. Akpabio also emphasized her husband’s track record of supporting women’s inclusion in governance, urging women to avoid making baseless accusations. She hinted at possible legal action to address the matter.

The allegations have sparked public debate, with political observers weighing in on the implications for both lawmakers. While some supporters of Akpoti-Uduaghan call for an investigation, others have dismissed the claims as politically motivated.
